The PPGBB began its activities in 2010. Recognized by CAPES and classified as concept 5 within the area of Biological Sciences I, the Program offers free training at Master and Doctorate academic levels. Our students aim to achieve academic and scientific qualification that allows them to play, at a high level, essential functions in the areas of teaching, research and manufacturing in Public Health.

The training of our students involves mandatory and optional disciplines. Our obligatory disciplines are Scientific Seminars, Biosafety and Teaching Practice. Our optional disciples are divided into three groups: i) multidisciplinary, basic disciplines, ii) specialized courses and iii) methodological courses.
The basic nucleus aims at giving general training to all our students, while the specialized and experimental nuclei offer training to students whose theses or dissertations require specialized approaches. For illustration, the basic core includes disciplines like Bioinformatics, Fundamentals of Cell Biology, Fundamentals of Molecular Biology, Genomics and Transcriptomics, Post-Transcriptional Mechanisms for the Regulation of Gene Expression. The specialized module includes Cellular and Molecular Aspects of Stem Cells and Cell Therapy, Fundamentals of Immunobiology, Advanced Topics in Immunobiology, Parasite-Host Cell Interaction, Introduction to Stem Cell Study, Trypanosomiasis Energy Metabolism. The experimental nucleus includes Proteomic Data Analysis, Animal Experimentation, Flow Cytometry, Biological Macromolecule Crystallography, Fundamentals of Optical and Electronic Microscopy, and Confocal Microscopy.
